If you are active duty or a veteran purchasing a home or farm (yes I said Farm) in California, a CalVet home loan is a viable loan option. Now before I go on, I want to let you know this is a specialty loan. Most have never heard of this loan or done a real estate transaction with it. In my opinion you must work with a Realtor® who understand this type of financing because they will most likely have to educate the seller about it as well.
This being said, CalVet home loans are amazing for the right type homebuyer. Because CalVet
is not a bank or finance company, the process of buying your home is different than using a typical VA home loan. As a result, this loan is a viable alternative or first choice, depending on your current situation.

Conventional mortgages (typically the interest rates you hear about on TV/radio) are the most common type of home loan financing.
